That is hilarious. Stop writing this excellent crap so I stop laughing at the office. And next time this happens? I want you to chat with me instead. Good work.

Drew - you're the man. Enjoyed watching. Now to retweet the heck out of it and share further.

I knew Drew before he had cancer. :)

Admit it, you just wanted to leave a comment so you could see it pop up in the box. :)

I don't have any more insight than you do, but I bet they take tomorrow off and have a 3-day weekend. That said, this team can code better while sleeping than most companies do while awake. So I never count them out.

Curiously, given that "Really Secret Scoble" spells out RSS, this hasn't hit my RSS feed, and I happened to bump into it on FriendFeed. Ever since you made the changes to WordPress, there have been issues.

In July of 2008 I saw the same thing. I said the importance of blog linking was declining.

It is still important to be engaged with the community, but it just doesn't drive traffic. I used to think maybe it was because I had gotten more visible (like those who read Robert probably know who I am already), but it is true across the board. My top traffic sources are Google, followed by Friendfeed and Twitter.

And just how did I miss your article the first time around? Thanks for the mention, Stu. Looking forward to meeting you this evening.

A fine chap? Don't overdo it now. :)

Robert, one thing to note is that the list is not terrible. Some of us (you and me, for instance) have worked hard to try and deliver value to the community. I was a lot less visible prior to FriendFeed, and I don't believe they put me on the list as a favor, but that this occurred organically.

That said, I do try to highlight 10 FriendFeed users each month who are delivering real value. You can see those posts here:

Solid post, Mark. Often, I think folks confuse what's best with what is most popular. Even if I don't think the tools that I like are ever going to be the most popular, I still will champion them if I think they are the best. There will always be people who don't have time or interest for the things I find useful.

There is no upside to leaving FriendFeed. While it makes sense to take a break from anything every once in a while (unless you are crazy like me), it makes no sense to reduce people's ability to see what you are doing around the Web. I don't know how I first met you, but I swear it was before FriendFeed, and I know you even better now because of it.

You say: "now that I’m off of FriendFeed and Twitter I can start talking about what I learned while I was addicted to those systems"

But that insinuates that you logged out of those and are no longer addicted. I would say both are false.

Following the gist of your argument, it is well established that Twitter's search is very broken. I hear rumblings about them improving, and maybe they will go back and get it all, but I have concerns they may never get it. There is a place for both real-time and long-time discussions being made available where they best belong.
