I wear the condition of my two younger autistic siblings on my sleeve. I am not ashamed to say how proud I am and hopeful of their progress. When my CA at college tried to relate by saying he had some distant relative with autism I was appalled, how could he ever KNOW how hard it is to hold your crying mother who carries all the pain in the world, how hard it is to imagine the future, how hard it is to desperately hope for one word from a silent autistic. I was angry. He could never know, I felt disconnected. Thank you for your poem. It explains exactly how I feel
