Absolutely. The task.fm dev team is based around the world. Teams like 37signals and Wordpress (automattic) are based globally

Personally I don't like having as many guidelines and what essentially is bureaucracy. I run a virtual team that is based 100% on results. I don't care how long they take to get the job done, it just needs to be done before deadline.

Fever looks like a nice app and I like the idea of being able to run it on your own server. A hosted version would be nice though
