Imagine a post-office with multiple front-desks. There are a lot of people waiting. With global queuing turned off (the ‘old’ way) you will be directed to the desk with the smallest amount of people in the queue. All the desks have queues in this scenario.
With global queuing turned on there is only 1 queue for all the desks. The big advantage of this is that you don’t have to stand in the queue with the old lady in front of you and have to wait forever for your turn.

Makes a ton of money with that. The history stopping story could be one of the concept stories but it’s a great novel as a whole. Just like other work of Gaarder like Sophie’s World and Maya.
Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetThis reminds me of a short story written by Jostein Gaarder. He describes a world where we have a tv-like device where you can see everything that has ever happened on earth. You control what you want to see at anytime and anywhere in the past. The world he described stopped ‘producing’ history of their own. Everyone became an addict watching the past.

MobileMe is working like shit, iPod Touch update 2.0 download takes forever (like 3+ hours), iTunes store is unavailable and apparently it takes forever to buy an iPhone (if you’re lucky to even get one)… I think Jobs is yelling himself a heart attack somewhere in Cupertino :-)

The one thing we have learned from the internet is that integrity is the most valuable thing for customers nowadays. Good luck, while it lasts…
