Used to be super affordable ($5/glass house wines, which are excellent), but the price point has gone up a little. Still a really enjoyable place. I live in Orlando now and miss it!
Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetI had AOL for email in '94, but didn't really discover the WWW until '97, which is also when I started IMing. Then we didn't get a computer that could handle the AOL with the browser until '98, so the only time I used it was at the library! The first website I visited was Pleasant Company's American Girl site (hey, I was 11). I built my first website and first blog from scratch HTML using Geocities in '98 or '99. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.

Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetI voted for you, but I have to be honest... I think The Bloggess is just as funny so I'm going to have to switch off voting for her too. :-)

Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetI’m going to echo the other comments and say of course they do! I have the same issue and finally learned in college how to distance myself from people like this. I didn’t feel their mentality rubbing off, but they were constantly needing never-to-be-repaid favors or advice or other energy (like worry) from me and it was just plain exhausting.
This means, though, that I’m down to a very small circle of good friends. I’d love to find a way to find more friends to motivate me (and who want me to motivate them); young entrepreneurs especially (I have my own business). Older friends are awesome, but they’re usually not facing the same challenges so I’d love to find more peers.

Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetPretty much *anything* by Beverly Cleary is great... don't miss the Ramona books! Stuart Little is another E.B. White. Encyclopedia Brown series, Mandie mysteries (Lois Gladys Leppard), American Girl books, and Dear America series are all fantastic. And of course one of the greatest children's series ever written, the Chronicles of Narnia!

As far as the download link is concerned, I’ve found that if you visit Google.com in a browser other than Chrome, it has a link that says “Surf the web faster with Google Chrome”… and of course, if you Google ‘Chrome’ you find it immediately.

Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetBorders Rewards membership is completely free, and there are awesome coupons and discounts and special sales, etc. They also have partnerships with an online survey company through which I’ve gotten discounts and magazine subscriptions. I haven’t set foot in a Barnes & Noble for years.
Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetI’d read it because it’s you (been reading your blog for quite some time now), but if it was just another no-diet/undiet/healthy-attitude-toward-food book coming out, I wouldn’t be interested.
I am, however, interested in your adult friendships book. Had an interesting related idea with a friend the other day I may email you about.
Reply | Original | Permalink | TweetFunny, I always felt that way about Tallahassee. I went there for school (and worked there for a year afterward), but sadly had to move back to Orlando, my original home… which still doesn’t feel like home at all. I went back to Tallahassee last week for a business trip, and it’s definitely still “home”. ::sigh:: I’m working on it.
