Friendfeed is so powerful it's a wonder why it hasn't gain in popularity like Twitter or Facebook did. Sad to read news of its demise.

I can't say about the other ads but from the last article I read this morning Google clearly distanced itself from them. As for the content itself I'd be obviously biased to pass any judgement ^_^

like you wrote being added to someone's list may be interpreted as a recommendation and a form of [flattering] validation; on the other hand being part of a massive listing is a close cousin to spamming.
Thank you for documenting here how you proceeded to address that problem

Regarding e-mails and how to manage them I decided to not use folders [or as little as possible] and since tagging is not possible (with Outlook that is), I edit titles and add some there, separated with hyphens.
Searching titles is really fast (way more than searching in the body of each message) so I create 'searches' that work like filters do on Gmail which is the system I got the idea from.

People at Twitter may be mad at this but having themselves merely implemented a feature Twitter members had created they couldn't decently claim ownership.

This sounds much better than previous post. At least public pads are back again woohoo! And Etherpad becoming open source represents another chance to be distributed and be born again under some other form.
Now I can be sincere and say congratulations to Etherpad for the acquisition by Google.

This is bad news. Etherpad is as easy to use as Wave is complex. I was using Etherpad more and more frequently and enjoying it and now this. I may repeat here what I wrote elsewhere but this is bad news.

Google Wave was definitely overhyped so no wonder it's 'the harder they fall' now since it's not perfect. Still, I definitely believe it really brought up something we should keep and work on improving if only for the sake of unloading e-mails. Time will tell how Google intend to address highlighted points charted in the article.

- I guess many of the things that users dislike most will easily be addressed and fixed {slow, not all contacts invited, etc.}. I'm surprised that some find live typing annoying. What could be the reason: slow typing, poor grammar, etc. Is it Wave shortcoming or theirs?
- I have a couple of issues with wave:
Things made complex when they don't need to be e.g making a wave public or not could have been done so a lot easier by checking a box instead of they way it is now.
Searching a wave: just don't know how to do it.
the history. I wished it had been more like it is in a wiki [e.g wikipedia] instead of playback like it is now.

Over all Wave is a great concept and I wish it will live long enough to have some of its features become standards.

Making a 'followfriday' list and updating it regularly is rather clever.

Of all 5 examples I reckon the 4th one, 'annotating a live event', is the most likely to become popular as arguably more efficient than following hashtag tweets on Twitter.

I bought a 500Mo external HD for 60E which makes it about half the price Google charges 'after slashing' the fee and the HD is mine. Granted there's no back up and it's not available anywhere unless I bring the HD with me. Still though...

Wanted to make the connection as soon as I read the article but the feature was not available yet. It is now and so is the connection (to one of my Twitter accounts). I now have to not forget to add #fb, #yam or #in depending on where I want my tweet to be displayed...

J'assume, je suis un peu de, presque, tout; a des degres divers quand meme.

Wave is slowly (not sure yet if I should add 'surely') growing on me. By the way if the guy who made that video did genuinely so and is really not affiliated to Google he truly deserves a job there.... and an invite ^_^
