It’s a terrible ad. I don’t know about tasteless but it fails on pretty much every level. The voiceover doesn’t even sound as good as a bad imitation of Lennon, for Pete’s sake!

Yeah, that was great for about 8 seconds.

Hah! Yes, I meant 2007. It’s been corrected now.

Gwynne,

Thank you.

Lindsay,

Welcome, and thank you for your kind words. It’s very gratifying and rewarding to know that my words were able to speak a word of hope into your darkness.

I was reading your posts at your blog. You’re a good writer. Keep at it.

Peace to you.

yeah… so? It can still suck, can’t it?

Heh. Are you on there Eric? If that’s the case then I may have to start using it again.

Seriously, most other people seem to think it’s the cat’s meow but I made the mistake of joining right before the service went through some very serious growing pains. After the 30th or 40th experience of waiting for twitter to come back up after going down for the 30th or 40th time that day, I gave up and never looked back.

This Rael fella is a pretty smart dude. I hope he can bring some performance orientation back to the service, but he may have poisoned the well with the way he handled the transition.

Not sure about the why’s and wherefores of that last response.

And I’m not sure I deserve the label of poacher, hypothetically or not (if that’s what you were insinuating, I’m not sure). I asked a question, solicited opinions, got some which I appreciate, including yours.

I’ve even hinted at what I actually did in this situation. I didn’t name the restaurant or the waiter, though I could have done both, and given you the waiter’s sad sad story (which he told us in some detail). The reason is that I didn’t want to incriminate anyone, I just wanted to see what others would have done in the same situation.

Rest assured that we were more generous than we probably should have been, given the full facts of the situation.

But we didn’t talk to the manager/owner. He and the waiter were the only two people there besides my wife and I.

Surely, DV, you mean my hypothetical visit. The answer to your question is “I’m not sure but it’s possible.”

Ed,

Thanks for a GREAT dinner. It was completely awesome! I had the mixed grill and the venison blueberry sausage left me nearly speechless… I just kept saying “wow” over and over again.

What a great place! I can’t wait to come up with an excuse for another trip to Winchester. I’ll definitely be heading to One Block West again when that happens.

Oh, and by the way, I gave you a 5/5 review on Yelp also.
