That’s right, Ron. It does! It’s very flattering. Now if I could just not be so needed until next Saturday.

Thanks Ron, I will!

I did ask for next week (starting tomorrow, thru Fri… still have the signed leave slip to prove it). The sup put me down as having today off but not NEXT Friday, when I’m still going to be away. So, I put in an additional leave slip for next Friday. That one, she got right. Sweet, huh?

Of course, I don’t get paid for any of that, but I’ve been working so much lately that it’s not really a problem.

And here I was thinking that Stephenson was the anitidote to esoteric! The book I recently threw across the room, which was called Disturbances in the Field, now that was esoteric. The problem with Stephenson’s recent works is not that there’s secret knowledge that you must possess in order to understand them (there is that to be sure), but that he builds that body of knowledge into the plot. The result is that the first third (or first installment of the series, in the case of the Baroque Cycle) is filled with all that stuff, thus making you want to slowly and ever so painfully, pull out all of your hair.

On the other hand, his plots are so good that I can’t put the darned things down!

Oh well, different strokes…

Thanks Ron. I already had the writing assignment, that’s why I didn’t want to go to work! But it all worked out okay in the end. Hope your day is smooth and as work free or work full as you want.

I just kept sending them emails until they responded. As you can see, I have not even a hint of commercialized links or anything on this site, so there was no argument from them. They made a mistake and they admitted it.

The thing to do in your situation would be to make your case directly to wordpress.com … it may be a mistake. If not, they’ll tell you what you need to change. Go to their FAQ page and do a search on deactivated. That should give you some direction.

Beth, there is no such thing as JUST a stay at home mom.

Actually, it wasn’t Owsley. Apparenlty my itunes was freaking out. It was actually The Merrymakers and yes, it is a cover from Listen to What the Man Said, a Macca tribute album.

I think I cribbed this directly from your blog… or I would have if it still existed. :p

Heh. I actually did put in for leave this week, so I could go to a denominational meeting. And I always check the “no-call” box. Always! They did leave me alone last Monday, though… so that’s something.

Eric,

I do not know if they recorded the show but they certainly had the equipment to do it! Two ambient Neumann mics (those babies are about $1200 a piece) and numerous mics in amongst that jazz band.

And it is very cool. I’ve been thinking about it all day.

The band director suggested a plan for trying out a few different instruments throughout the next school year, courtesy of a local music store. So that will give us some time to ’swing’ it.

Is it really you!? You know, when I meet people who have never heard Car Talk, I always tell them about your appearance on the show and how it came about.

All the best to you, wherever you are.

Gosh. My own little brush with fame!

Scott,

Thanks for responding and offering us one more example of above and beyond customer service! I will certainly do as you suggested and I will also continue to share about the excellence that is One Village Coffee with my overcaffeinated friends (and with some who are undercaffeinated as well).
