AIR has very attracting UI for its applications, and given its features of in built html control and access to local filesystem, its powerfull too. Try out some good AIR applications from http://adobe.com/go/marketplace, its hard to see such applications made in java with ease and simple coding.

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI stopped in to look at your post about the Sun OpenOffice Blog plug-in, which I have just installed. I like the analogy, and find it unfortunate that conservatives are so sensitive about criticism.
Modern politics is inspired by the same logic that would personify our left and right hands as members of a separate body, and accept that they would be lifelong enemies. Software politics has become similar, and so the analogy stands on social observation instead of prejudice. Without free minds we have nothing left worth defending.

I’m looking for something like the Open Office plugin you describe, but I’d rather find something completely free. Any suggestions?

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI think you got my argument wrong. I have argued that just like how political conservatives resist anything good for social change, the traditional software supporters (conservatives in the software field) resist the proliferation of cloud computing. Conservatives here need not be the political conservatives. It has a big chunk of political liberals too.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetHow can you say that conservatives are stifling cloud computing when they are the ones that are encouraging small and large businesses. It seems to me that I am only hearing fear and opposition from the left because of the large computing facilities that are required to support the cloud and what it is doing to the environment. The cloud encourages small business, it isn’t taxed (so far) and it promotes a capitalist and inventive society without government regulation… all conservative ideals.
