It would be great to get a whole bunch of “If I told you I’d have to kill you” SEO folks in one room, hear what they have to say, put a Fight Club stamp on it, and call it a night.

It was a thrill to meet you and be on the same panel as well. Your presentation on usable forums design was excellent. Its a favorite topic of mine and you covered it well. I, too, had to run off right after our panel, so it’s hoped that we meet again and have a few more minutes to spare

Happy Holidays to you!

How to get High Page Rank or Pagerank. Simple Way to Get High Google Pagerank (PR) | Web Marketing | Search Engine Optimization - Guides and Articles…

In turn, those two tasks of course are essentially what offsite SEO boils down to. The most important aspect of ranking a site well has been (and probably will continue to be) the number of backlinks. (I am not discounting quality of backlinks, anchor …

A great post that explains offsite SEO in a easy-to-understand format. I agree that reciprocal linking is a dying practice.

Jordan,

Nice post … I agree with you about the broad type keyword phrases … I do a lot of seo in the legal industry and it’s important to differentiate between keyword phrases that are probably “research” keywords (med mal law) and “targeted” keywords (med mal lawyer)… when the bottom line is conversion … it’s all about focus …

Jordan,
Great post. We do a lot of keyword research, including KEI, search competition, etc. but your post raises the key issue that we always face - is conversion an onpage/design issue or a keyword/traffic issue?

Of course, it’s a mix of both but (being on the keyword/traffic side of the equation) I would be jumping up and down to know which keywords are more likely to correspond to the different phases of search (as your post outlines). That way we could utilize intelligent keyword design to align content optimization and seo efforts with the (marketing) purpose of each section of a website. I’ll check out MS’s adCenter Labs tool. If you know of any other tools, please keep us posted

I am really impressed by Google’s improved Adwords KW tool. It gives up the monthly search data and has very clean keywords - I’m spend 3 hours on Keyword Discovery and then one hour on Google and I got much cleaner results.

I estimate relevancy and advertiser competition (available from AdWords). Then, run them all through an intitle: inanchor: “competition finder” tool, and then run the most promising ones through SEOmoz’s KW Difficulty tool - and put the results in a spreadsheet.

This gives a quick but fairly accurate look at how difficult each term will be to rank for and allows me to select terms for the appropriate pages on the site - based on how strong the domain is currently. Then, of course, as the domain strength improves, I “optimize” and go after more difficult, higher traffic terms that weren’t initially attainable.

Hi Jordan,

Good post! I like to read the different styles people use when writing about keyword research. They all follow the same path but are all unique in their own right!

We recently posted one as well - http://www.seoview.co.uk/seo-keyword-research-getting-started/

Keep up the good work! Sphinned!

Jordan,

Great Post … I have a particular distaste for the ‘meta’ attitude that follows social media in general. There are so many negative behaviors that experienced social media pros are on the lookout for, that working in the environment seems to smart of arrogance, intolerance, ego and self - isms … FWIW … That’s my 2 cents
