Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetGood to hear that they are finally making unpacking easier for the customer - and at the same time creating less of a burden on the environment. Let's hope that other companies will follow that lead.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetSadly, I'm just learning of this now and I can't pull together a preso before the deadline. I submitted a proposal last year and was not accepted. I've pretty much decided that Ycombinator isn't the right place for me though, I'll likely just bootstrap my startup. Cheers, and kudos though. I'm sure this will help women a great deal.

My name is Tia and I'm an editor at OpposingViews.com, the debate website. Since we both cover technology issues, I thought I'd drop you a note. I would've e-mailed you but I couldn't find an address.
See, we're currently having a discussion about whether or not the Internet should be free. You can see it here:
http://www.opposingviews.com/questions/should-the-internet-be-free
Although vetted experts are the ones doing the debating, anyone can contribute by choosing a side and posting comments about the experts' arguments.
Check it out and, if you have the time, let me know what you think at tia@opposingviews.com Thanks!

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetGreat! We (the program committee/advisory board) are meeting this Thursday to winnow things down. The organizers will take it from there - if I can get some concrete dates for their final confirmations I'll come back here and post them.

As you may know, Susan was in this last class at TechStars. We made a concerted effort to reach out to get more female founders in 2008 including hiring an evangelist for this sole purpose, and it certainly worked. We had 6 women across 10 companies in 2008, I believe. And I think that made TechStars better in 2008.
I hope more women do apply to these types of programs.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetUPDATE: I've received two very kind offers to help mentor - one from a woman exec in SF, the other from an investor at a large fund based in NY.
Also, I received a note of encouragement from Y Combinator partner Jessica Livingston, who thanks us for the support, and who points us to an article that she wrote on this very subject: http://www.foundersatwork.com/1/post/2008/07/female-founders.html .
Keep it coming!
