Podango? A good opportunity? Ha ha ha. Free media hosting supported by advertising is a non starter. How's Mevio doing? I call it a bad model with delusional management that waited way too long to inform show producers that they were pulling the plug.

I've also read that there were serious problems with Podango Show Builder Lite that never got resolved. http://davidjackson.org/2008/04/26/goodbye-poda...

So now we've got bad decisions combined with flawed technology. Anyone who buys that mess is out of their noggin.

As we have publicly stated we are one of the few podcasting companies that is completely in the black. While everyone is facing challenges we are very happy with the position we find ourselves today.

Our platform which we commercially license is doing great, the number of podcasters on ad deals will continue to grow in Q1 and our Podcast Hosting and Statistics service is seeing strong growth.

Our strategy has worked so far and I am highly optimistic that in 2009 we will end the year in positive territory. While we hate to see Podango exit the space like this life goes on and consolidation and closures will continue to happen .

I completely agree. My money is on wizzard picking up g lot of the
producers. A general rollup of the remaining cit players would also be
someones smart move.

Podango was a good opportunity but caught in financial times. I'm sure someone will make a bid for the assets. Someone should put together some funds and roll up all the remaining players so that there can be some form of cohesive industry. The potential is there but with all the companies too thin right now the industry is falling apart. I hope it can thrive.

Sounds good, Mark: http://tinyurl.com/fbconnectdisqus I'll give rizzn.com some love on MOMW too. Good luck in your new home, and nice to meet you.

So my question then, Mark, is how come I can't sign into the rizzn.com commenting system with Facebook Connect yet? Snap to it, sir! (You're prolly busy moving to Dallas). For those who are code dunces--and yes, I know that code dunces are not your audience, but still--I wrote a simple 12-step program for integrating Facebook Connect into one's blog via the Disqus commenting system. For a lowly trench writer like me, the guide is getting some decent traffic, which of course means people are looking for a foolproof way to take advantage of FB Connect. The moral is that FB should be focusing more on the development needs of the unwashed masses who don't know squat.

Send me the URL to that - after I get settled in this weekend I'll see if I
can't get it on there - and I'll give you a link whenever I post the update
to my blog - it'll be good for at least two or three clicks. :-p

I haven't gotten it set up yet that way, but one of my friends has done that... I'll get him to write an article on it next week. Keep an eye on the site and you'll see it.

If by increase in content you mean "Starz" then yes, there have definitely been some better movies - Gone Baby Gone, Enchanted, and No Country For Old Men in particular ... there's actually a page just for the "Starz" content http://www.netflix.com/WiContentPage?csid=1

As for the youtube functionality, I haven't seen that yet. Maybe it's in the upgrade to HD that may actually be available as soon as today. If so, I'll definitely be checking it out tonight after work. http://gizmodo.com/5115315/roku-player-gets-upd...

bwahaha. yes, that show is particularly horrific.

Since you have one on your set, has the recent increase in available Netflix content been noticeable? I saw some early demos, but how is the YouTube functionality?

Sweet... we've really enjoyed our as well. A really bad, holiday appropriate horror show - available on the Roku - is The Santa Clause 3 :)
