Nobody followed up on that. I think they dismissed me as a fringe lunatic.
No. You know, what? People don't care.

Hint: If you don't find it in the first few minutes of your investigation, it's almost certainly not there.

Would the reverse order be considered more respectful? If so, I'll change
it.

> As noted in the teachings of Paul Graham and Jesus

Maybe you should reverse the order of those?

Yes, that's actually funnier than what I wrote in the post itself. Curses,
foiled again.

What’s funny is that I might never have seen this post had Louis Gray not shared it on FriendFeed.

Glad you like it. One more tip: If you try it, use a large pile of photos.
One or two won't really give you the experience.

Thanks for the OurDoings tip.. neat stuff!

Enjoy the story your photos tell
?

I dunno, I'm a big fan of the "benefits, not features" school of marketing. Both that and the current tagline talk about what it IS, not what it does for the target user.

Disneyland for a long time went with "The Happiest Place on Earth". They did NOT go with "Rides, junk food, and people in amazing costumes".

Should I change it to "A hybrid between blogging and photo sharing"?

Tagline of "An Illustrated Archive of Your Doings" seems kinda confuddling.

Each month has a page of its own. Use the links under "archive" in the
right sidebar. Is that what you want?

Don't apologize for ad-supported. I want feedback more than revenue
at this point. I don't even make money from the ads. They're
placeholders so I don't surprise people later.

Is there a way to view monthly instead of daily? I don't pay for anything so ad supported would be the way to go, sorry just a fact.

That's good advice. At the time I thought it was clever to talk about
cost in terms of time rather than money, but now I think it's just
confusing. I'll change it soon.

Your hosting plan link doesn't list hosting plans. It lists attributes to hosting plans. make it more clean.

Put a cost somewhere, the word "free" if ad supported. A dollar amount it if it is going to cost.

I went through the demonstration before I posted and didnt get that stuff. So maybe the issue is that the features were just not obvious to me. maybe a short screencast to introduce people to the service would help. You mention that the late adopters don't have time to figure things out and the are most likely less tech savvy than someone like me, so a quick run through of the benefits to that user should be front and center. Again, look at Apple's web gallery as an example. the benefits are clear and the UI presents all options in a simple manner so that one knows how to email to a particular album, how to subscribe to it, upload to it, etc. We can discuss more if you wish, just drop me an email.

On the page where you upload photos there's a bulleted list of other ways to
upload, including email.

Your site does Media RSS, so you can use it as a blog on FriendFeed and the
thumbnails will be picked up. Try the "Get Updates" tab for other RSS feeds
and an embeddable slide show.

Splitting/combining entries can be done.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm rushing off to the Police concert in Boston
now but will look at the other things you mentioned later.

This is similar to the way iphoto groups things by events. That said, it would be nice to be able to split the photos for one day into 2 events or two separate days into one event. I would also like to be able to publish right from edit. So I would click add comment for a specific day and that would show the editor and let me add the title and comment for the group. Finally I would like iphoto integration so I don't have to upload stuff in batches I can just select one event and publish (in that process I could capture the comments as well. Oh and RSS and email in so I can email to a specific album from the iphone. One more, a widget so I can embed the albums into my website.

Click on a calendar icon and use the edit tab to change the date.
You're the second person today to talk about the charging thing, so
clearly I need to fix that. There's an old payment system that let's
you lose the ads, but I need to hide that.

I like the site...but there should be an option to allow you to change the date on your photos, because it's not always right, so you should be able to edit that. That, and the whole account balance thing is kinda scary.
