Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetSuperb feedback. Next quickerly weekend session will definitely focus on
these improvements. Many thanks. What's your URL so I can tip you for your
thoughts?
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI was more precisely thinking about typographic improvements, and avoiding visual clutter… like a slightly bigger typeface for song listings, a less visible footer so it doesn't predate visually the main search input (also why not place the Tipjoy form here?), a "select all on focus" input à la Youtube when it comes to copy the shareable url, and more generally a little more remindable "branding" as opposed to the white & bland look & feel.
It's also a matter of telling a story: search for a song, and then comes, in that order:
- the title of the song
- a way to listen it
- a way to share itAlso, the main benefit for using Soundmanager is the "I want to listen all the songs automagically without clicking play on each of the music players, so I can do other stuff while listening" user behavior.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetThis tool you linked looks great. As for usability redesign, the intended
use is to make it easy to send links to a single song. I think quickerly
does a pretty good job of that. Are you interested in playlist creation /
sharing, or do you think there are usability tweaks that need to happen to
perform the intended purpose better?
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetYou should check this, makes more sense than using a flash player for each song:

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI gave up on delicious some time ago... there are much better social sites available for sharing with the family and friends. Yahoo has really thrown their acquisition away because they could have pushed it so much further if they put in the effort that the site deserves.... to me it's just full of spammers trying to get onto the homepage.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI think it's impossible nowadays to not be using something which Google is behind. As a web develop mine are primarily applications and services rather than content sites.... in fact I would go as far as to say I only read Matt Cutts blog which is indirectly powered by Google.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI find that there is also a problem of find unique interesting information. With the greater flood of mass media seems to reduce the quality and general wow factor as well

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweethttp://skreemr.com/ has an API that will do a lot of what you wish. They rank the mp3's based upon availability and quality I believe, hence, you won't need to check for dead links quite as often as they do it for you. There's a bunch of other fun stuff they offer. When I was looking into doing something similar, I would use Skreemr, then Seeqpod, then as a final ditch effort, YouTube (not nearly as "sexy", but the links will remain up as they have license rights).
Enjoy amigos.

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweetawesome, here is a link to the original swf, with that js file you need to stop other players...
http://www.1pixelout.net/code/audio-player-word...
just dl the zip and put audio-player.js in the page.

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetCC had also suggested skreemr integration. If you view source of
quickerly.js, you'll see skreemr in the TODOs ;)

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetI just ran across this post.
The hot idea would be to combine bitly and disqus, ergo, the URLs you also have a discussion attached, which frankly the whole reason you are sending it around. Best part is, everyone else who forwards it, you automagically get them involved in the conversation also. You effectively just create a left pane with disqus based upon the bit.ly URL and right pane iframe of the URL bitly forwards to. You get the point. Seems so obvious, I'm sure it's out there actually.....but where? Hmmmm......
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweetthe latest fix may actually resolve all these issues, my need for pagination may have just been a result of the "error opening file "syndrome. will let u know
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetGood call. I just doubled the number of search results returned to 30. I
know you're waiting for pagination, but I just don't feel your pain on that
one. Let me know how the 30 results works, and if you still are hankering
for pagination, I'll set it up one night I have some free time.30 results seems to be making Flash work really hard, but that could just be
my laptop or a memory leak. This is gonna need some tweaking I think...

does the search result pull in all the results or just the first page?
