It is public knowledge that the Mafia's influence on businesses account for 7% of Italy's total GDP. With Italy's GDP at an astounding 2.1 Trillion, the Mafia are amassing turnovers of 140 Billion. That is not even considering illegal traits like selling of drugs, arms, software piracy, prostitution etc. It could be closer at 200 Billion Dollars a year if you add all that.
