Comments by Official BackType
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetWe're definitely not interested in running advertisements right now; we've found there are plenty of other opportunities to make money.
Also, if you find we're missing some of your comments from certain blogs, you can submit them @ http://www.backtype.com/addblogs and we'll add them asap.
Thanks!
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetBackType is very inexpensive to run; we're constantly adding new sources for comment-like data e.g. digg, reddit, mahalo answers, etc. There's a lot of underlying value in comments and online conversations that we're working to unlock.
Thanks for your comment!
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetIt’s great to hear about the different ways people manage their comments — thanks for the post.
Re BackType: you might be interested in using BackType Subscriptions, a feature we released recently that lets you subscribe to posts that don’t have the “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” option that this blog has. You can add posts using our bookmarklet and change your BackType account to use your new e-mail address.
Let me know if you find it useful.
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweet@jupiterthunder: We allow you to follow comments by:
1. Author (LH reviewed us for this)
2. Keywords (via Search & Alerts)
3. Post (via Subscriptions)Thanks for the kind words :)

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweet@markadm: This is Chris from BackType; we have a feature that allows you to track your conversations on blogs. Just add a BackType Subscription for all posts you comment on (we have a bookmarklet to make it easier):

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetGenerally, when we add a new source or support a new platform, we don't retrieve all the associated comments that were published in the past -- we pickup comments made from that pt on. Please send us the properties you comment on and we will look into it for you:

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetThanks for the mention, Peter. Glad to hear you’re finding Alerts useful.
Happy new year
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetWe don't use Facebook Connect for signup/login; instead, we use it so you can claim comments that you make on other sites that support Facebook Connect.
You can already use your Facebook, Google, OpenID, etc credentials to sign up for BackType using Clickpass.
Thanks for your comment

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweet@Prashant: You need to review the URLs you claimed on your BackType profile:

Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweet@John: Thanks for your post
BackType can be used to follow comments in a few ways:
1. By Author (highlighted in your post)
2. By Search Term (BackType Alerts, also mentioned)
3. By Post (BackType Subscriptions)We’re hoping that will help people learn about their favorite bloggers, monitor the search terms that matter to them and much more.
@Matthew, @Mike: Thanks for your comments
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | Tweet@Ajith Great write-up — thanks!
@Everyone Thanks for all your comments
Reply | Original | Permalink | Share | TweetThat’s unusual — I’ve never received a Google Alert for a search term mentioned in comments on blogs, digg, reddit, etc. We’ve found that BackType Alerts and Google Alerts are very complementary.
To monitor mentions, I use a combination of BackType Alerts, Google Alerts, Twitter Search and FriendFeed Search.
